Raymond Barta

Raymond Richard Barta was born on January 21, 1926, in Spruce Hill Township, the son of Anton and Christine (Zavadil) Barta. He was baptized, received his first communion and was confirmed at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River. Ray attended District 64 Country School in Spruce Hill Township through the 8th grade.
He farmed the family farm all his life retiring in October of 1994. Ray sold the farm to his nephew John and moved to Alexandria. He was a member of St. William’s and St. Mary’s Catholic Church and would lead the rosary at Knute Nelson and Bethany.
Raymond died on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at St. Williams Care Center in Parkers Prairie. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Schmidt of Parkers Prairie; nephews: John (Ruth Ann) Schmidt of Miltona, Dave Schmidt of Parkers Prairie, Paul Schmidt of St. Stephens, Samuel Zimmerli of TX; nieces, Diane (Doug) Harstad of Benson, Sherrie (Steve) Emrud of Milaca and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, niece, Pattie Zimmerli, great niece, Emilie Schmidt.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, November 15, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at St. Williams Catholic Church in Parkers Prairie. Burial was at St. Williams Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
