Raymond “Stub” Burgau was born at his grandparents’ home in New York Mills, Minnesota on April 4, 1935, the second oldest of Charles and Olga (Soronan) Burgau. He was raised on a farm in Meadow Township, Menagha, Minnesota. Stub was baptized, confirmed and married in the Lutheran faith. Five A.M. was his daily visit with the Lord.
In 1955, he married Ruthie Olson and they were blessed with five children. Stub was very athletic and could “fix” anything. Hunting was a favorite family get-together. He enjoyed baseball, snowmobile racing and golf.
Stub died on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; five children, Rolene (Don) Clarquist, Rona (Stephen) Matheson, Randa (David) Kluver, Ryan Burgau, and Rocky (Maren) Burgau; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy (Harold) Ludtke; brother, Emil (Toni) Burgau; sister-in-law, June Burgau; numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces. Stub is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Olga Burgau; brother, Donald; and daughter-in-law, Shelley Burgau.
Due to the covid pandemic, a private burial will be held at Meadow Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery in Menahga.
