Rebecca Shinabarger

Rebecca “Becky” Ann Shinabarger was born on May 11, 1948 in Alexandria to Roger and Clara (Aslagson) Sharp. She attended school in Carlos, MN and Alexandria, MN graduating from Jefferson Senior High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Theodore “Ted” Shinabarger in 1966. The marriage was blessed with two children; Brian Lee Shinabarger and Julie Ann Shinabarger.
Ted and Becky made their home first in Fridley, MN and later in Maple Grove, MN; moving back to her childhood home in Alexandria in 1999.
Becky was employed in the accounting department at Honeywell for 14 years and later at Martex Corp. in Minneapolis. Becky was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was an immaculate house keeper, was extremely organized and had boundless energy to care for others. Becky eagerly looked forward to making coffee for fellowship and setting out snacks for after school class at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Osakis. She enjoyed gardening; loved cats and kittens and the color purple. She excelled at entertaining family and friends where she gained the reputation of being the “world’s best coffee maker.”
Becky, 66, of Alexandria departed this world on November 8, 2014. Becky was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved daughter, Julie. She is survived by her husband, Ted Shinabarger of Alexandria; son, Brian Shinabarger of Zimmerman; brother, Wayne Sharp of Columbia Heights; sister, Jane (Michael) Wiese of Sauk Rapids; father and mother-in-law, Roger and Dona Shinabarger of Richland, WA; sisters-in-law, Cindy (Steven) Newhouse of Walla Walla, WA; Linda (Richard) Basney of Hurricane, UT; brother-in-law David (Rachel) Shinabarger of Richland, WA and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service was held at 5 PM Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Osakis. Interment will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal, MN at a later date. Honorary Casket bearers include David Shinabarger, Steven Newhouse, Richard Basney, Wayne Sharp, Michael Wiese, Troy Wiese, and Wayne Hurly.
Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
