Reuben Bolin

Reuben John was born on December 18, 1913, on the family farm (which is now a Century Farm) in Alexandria Township the son of John and Hilda (Johnson) Bolin. When Reuben was six months old his mother died and he went to live with the Erick Roos Family until he was five years old. He attended Liberty School through the 8th grade. As a young man he played flute with the Geneva Woods Orchestra. On June 19, 1941, Reuben was united in marriage to Edith Mattson at Fahlun Lutheran Church. Reuben farmed all his life and also did custom combining. In their retirement years Reuben and Edith enjoyed traveling especially in Alaska and Hawaii. Mr. Bolin also loved to go to auctions where he was very well known. A lot of the auctioneers would look to Reuben to get the bidding going. He had a good sense of humor and wit. Reuben loved nature?especially birds, sweets, and cherished his two great granddaughters: Skylar and Sofia, (?the little one?). Reuben died on Monday, March 15, 2010, at the Bethany Home. He is survived by his son, Donovan of Fergus Falls, MN; two daughters: Kathy Bolin of Nelson, Judy & husband, Albert Peraino of Mt. Vernon, WA; five grandchildren: Kristin Comunale, Rachel Peraino, Marc Peraino, Jesse Bolin, Jason Bolin; two great granddaughters: Skylar Larsen, Sofia Comunale. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; son, Doug; parents, and three brothers: Vernol, Harold, Floyd and one sister, Ethel. Memorial services were held on Saturday, March 20, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Fahlun Lutheran Church in Nelson with Rev. Barbara Lund Thompson and Rev. Marilee Bergerson officiating. Burial was at Fahlun Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral
