Richard J. (Dick) Graczyk was born on March 24, 1927 the son of John and Louise (Novak) Graczyk in Minneapolis, MN. Dick grew up in north Minneapolis and graduated from North High School. He then tried to enlist into the United States Navy, however his enlistment was denied because of health reasons resulting from Rheumatic Fever he had when he was a boy. After high school he found employment as a welder. Dick worked almost 50 years as a welder in Minneapolis and retired at the age of 65. Dick has four children Laurie, Holly, William, and Becky. Later in his life he married Marilyn Bye on June 22, 1991 in Minneapolis, MN. Together they resided in Plymouth, MN. Dick liked to visit with family and friends. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. Dick liked to hunt when he was younger and he loved to fish, almost never missing a Minnesota Fishing Opener. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Graczyk of Alexandria; children; step-children; grandchildren; great grandchildren; step-grandchildren; and step-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and special pet cats Charlie and Sara. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 11AM at the United Methodist Church in Alexandria with the Reverend Jeff Hanson officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Inurnment will be in the Kinkead Columbarium. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
