Richard Raasch

Richard James Raasch was born May 27, 1947 in Morris, MN, the son of Leslie and Marion (Winter) Raasch. He grew up in Morris where he graduated from high school. Dick continued his education at the Wahpeton School of Science and later, at Moorhead State University.

In 1969, Dick enlisted in the United States Army. He served in Vietnam for almost two years. Following his discharge he returned to Morris. Dick did some work in construction, carpet laying and painting. He then began a career in the grocery business. Dick managed several grocery stores during his career.

On March 2, 1985 Dick was united in marriage to Connie Alveshere. The couple made their home in Morris. He was blessed with three children. I991 Connie’s work brought the family to Alexandria, MN. Dick continued to commute to Morris for work until taking a job with Pete’s County Market in Alexandria. Later he commuted to Sauk Centre to manage the Coborn’s grocery store. Dick retired in 2013.

Dick enjoyed the outdoors; he liked to hunt duck and geese and enjoyed summertime fishing. He also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. He also liked reading. Most important to Dick was his family; he was proud of his children and loved spending time playing with his grandchildren and watching their sporting events.

Following a very brief battle with cancer, Dick died on Friday, September 1, 2017 at the age of seventy years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Ron Raasch. Dick is survived by his wife, Connie Raasch of Alexandria; children, Lisa Greninger and husband, Corey, of Milaca, MN, Jeremy Schultz and wife, Katie Stroup, of Minneapolis, MN, and Stephanie Schmidt and husband, Eric, of Elk River, MN; grandchildren, Dylan Greninger, Addison Greninger, Hadley Schmidt, Hudson Schmidt, Maisie Schultz and Crosby Schultz; brothers, Gary Raasch and wife, Sally, of Shakopee, MN, and Don Raasch and wife, Sylvia, of Pennock, MN; sister, Sandy Haugen and husband, Dan, of Willmar; sister-in-law, Kathryn Raasch of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, Reverend Sarah Evenson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Lake Mary Cemetery in Lake Mary Township.
