Richard L. Veeder, age 74, of Alexandria, MN, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2010 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. A memorial service was held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Anderson Funeral Home, in Alexandria, with Reverend Father Fred Fink officiating. The American Legion Post 87, VFW Post 936 and the Minnesota National Guard accorded military honors. Inurnment was in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Honorary pallbearers were all of Richard?s grandchildren and step grandchildren. Richard L. Veeder was born on June 14, 1936 in Sauk Centre, MN to Richard E. and Beatrice M. (Lindermann) Veeder. He retired from the military after serving twenty-eight years. The last years, he was at Camp Ripley. Richard was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, Shriner's and Elks Club. Richard is survived by his wife, Lynn Veeder of Alexandria; sister, Helen Veeder of Willmar, MN; sister-in-law, Gwen Veeder of Sauk Centre, MN; five children, Kimberly Vearrier of Sauk Centre, Jacqueline (Lawrence) Smith of Eagan, MN, John Veeder of Sauk Centre, Pamela Thompson of Sauk Centre and Kathryn Spencer of Wausau, WI; mother of the children, Arlene Veeder of Sauk Centre; seven grandchildren, Rachel Amundsen, Joseph Vearrier, Christopher and Megan Veeder, Katelyn and Chelsea Spencer, and Nicole Thompson; stepchildren, Kris (Theresa) Skrove and Shari (Trevor) Wannebo; and step grandchildren Sarah and Rachel Skrove and Amanda and Eva Wannebo. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard E. and Beatrice M. (Lindermann) Veeder and brother, George Veeder. Arrangements were with Anderson Funeral Home.
