Robert “Bob” Cornelius Annen died suddenly on May 3rd, 2022, at the age of 84 while at his home in Alexandria, Minnesota. Bob was a caring, supportive husband and father and is survived by his wife Vivian, and his two children Angela, and Robert Cory. He will be greatly missed by them, as well as his extended family including many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Bob was born to Ervin and Theresa (Weiss) Annen in New Ulm, Minnesota on March 2nd, 1938. He was a loving son and had a very close relationship with his mother, especially after his father passed away while Bob was in his teens. He went to St. Cloud State University and earned a BS in Chemistry and Math. He served dutifully in the US Army and was stationed as an X-ray technician at the US military base in Idar-Oberstein, Germany.
Bob was an extremely hard working and dedicated employee. His scientific knowledge and intelligence were greatly appreciated. Most of his career was with Honeywell and he retired there as Vice President of Global Growth and OEM in 1998. During his career, he was able to travel the world and had the privilege of moving to Belgium with his family for three years. The family has lots of great memories from their travels and adventures during that time. One of Bob’s career highs was winning the Honeywell Lund Award for excellence in leadership and employee development. He took a lot of pride in supporting and mentoring his employees and had close friendships with many of them.
Once retired, Bob moved from Plymouth, MN to a beautiful lake home in Alexandria, Minnesota. Moving to a lake home was something he always looked forward to and he spent many happy years there. He made some great friends in Alexandria and walked almost daily with a group who deemed themselves the ‘Fat Boys Walking Club’. In retirement, he developed a love of cooking and made many delicious meals for family and friends. He was a skilled golfer and enjoyed fishing, especially with his daughter. He also took pleasure in sitting on the deck with family watching the sun descend over the lake, and during winter gathering near the fireplace for entertaining conversation.
