Robert Braun, age 77, of Holmes City, formerly of Hoffman, died Tuesday October 13, 2015. A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Holmes City. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Friday, October 23 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and also one hour prior to the service at church.
OBITUARY
Robert Edward Braun was born June 17, 1938 in Erdahl Township, MN, the son of Albert and Gladys (Henry) Braun. He was raised in Erdahl where he attended country school. Robert graduated from Evansville High School. Following his schooling he moved to Minneapolis, lived with his sister, and did landscape work for about five years.
On September 26, 1959 Robert was united in marriage to Carol Komer. The couple were blessed with two daughters, Terri and Dawn. While living in the cities he worked at Shamrock for 10+ years, then started working for MN DOT, where he worked for 36 years. Robert worked for Holmes City Township, prior to retiring in 2009.
Robert enjoyed the outdoors and was a member of a Sportsman’s Club. He spent time working on his hobby farm, trapping, hunting and fishing in the summer and spearing in the winter. He loved his trips to Alaska to hunt and fish with his brother. Playing cards, especially whist, hearts and spades. Robert also liked to square dance. He would visit with anyone at any time. Often he attended auction sales and sales barns just to visit with people. Most of all he loved visiting with his family, children and grandchildren.
On Tuesday, October 13, 2015 Robert died at home with family by his side, at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three great grandchildren, Kayden, Kourtney and Kandyce. Robert is survived by his daughters, Dawn (Leonard), Blank Terri (Gary) Torborg; grandchildren, Melissa Haase, Corey Haase, Brennan Haase, Kathryn Blank, Kari Blank, Roxi Tuholski, Kayla Tirado, Mason Torborg and Zach Torborg; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Ryan, Camden, Hayden, Liam, Saydee, Ethen, Caleb, Kadi, Ayden, Kimberly, Logan, Isaiah, Rayna, Caleb and Lexi; former wife, Carol Braun; sisters, Sylvia Rhode, Gwen Haack and Janet (Duane) Enervold; and brother Harlen (Ella) Braun.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Holmes City. Reverend Denise Croskey will officiate. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Trinity Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Friday, October 23 at the Anderson Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at church.
