Robert Dilly

Robert Lloyd Dilly Sr. was born on January 25, 1930 in Norcross, MN to Lloyd and Ruth (Reckner) Dilly. He was baptized and confirmed at the EUB Church in Norcross. Robert graduated from Herman High School. He went to work for Norcross Coop and farmed with his brother. Robert was united in marriage to Violet Koosman on June 24, 1950 at Moyer Lutheran Church in Holloway, MN. To this union the couple was blessed with 3 children. The family lived in Morris for a time, but spent most of their life in Norcross. Robert worked as a truck driver hauling freight and livestock. Robert and Vi moved to Rockford in 1983 and Robert worked as a courier in Minneapolis where he retired in 1989, and moved to Alexandria. Robert loved to play baseball which he played for many years in the Land O? Ducks League for Norcross. He also loved playing golf where he was a member of the Alexandria Golf Club. Robert enjoyed listening to old time music and dancing. He was a member of Shalom Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Robert died on Monday, October 11, 2010 at Knute Nelson at the age of 80. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Vi; son, Bob Dilly Jr.; daughter, Peggy (Scott) Wagner; seven grandchildren, Jason (Tawnya) Dilly, Katie (Rob) Anderson, Britta Dilly, Alissa, Adam, and Ashley Kappes and Nicole Cooper. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ruth; daughter, Patrice Cooper; brother, Glen and wife, Rene; and father and mother-in-law, Martin and Lydia Koosman. A memorial service was held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Shalom Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend Grant Aaseng officiating. Music was provided by organist, Virginia Hegre, and soloist, Sonny Bartells. Inurnment was held at Lakeside Cemetery in Herman. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
