Robert John Kraemer was born on October 29, 1938 in Urbank, Minnesota, the youngest of ten children born to Joseph and Mary (Freske) Kraemer. He grew up on the family farm where at a young age he and his sisters took over the daily chores and responsibilities when his brothers left to serve our country. Days on the farm included milking cows, plowing, planting and threshing. He loved riding horses and sneaking down to Arkins Lake for a little get away. He graduated from Moorhead High School in 1956 and became a member of the National Guard at Camp Williams.
Bob started his culinary career working as line cook at the Nicollet Hotel Minneapolis in 1958. From there he worked as a head chef at several different restaurants and then owned and operated: The Four Seasons at Breezy Point, The Peak Supper Club in Clitherall and Kraemer’s Supper Club in Evansville. Bob’s sense of humor and storytelling ability were his true gifts. He never called people by their name…he would make up nick names for them to show his affection. He worked hard and expected a lot out of his staff but was always there with a “thank you” at the end of the night. A true sign of respect and appreciation. His passions in life were hunting, fishing, playing Whist, watching the Vikings’ games and spending time with his family and friends.
Bob died on May 8, 2016 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his children: Kim Kraemer of Glenwood, Bobby of Maple Grove, Bill (Susan) of Apple Valley, Karen Kraemer of Starbuck, Kelly Kraemer (Chris Johnson) of Starbuck, Richard (Erica) of Lakeville; twelve grandchildren: Daniel and Shannon; Nicole and Jordyn; Lauren and Nicholas; Andrew and Kaitlin; Madison; Ashley, Alyssa and Thomas; one great grandchild Ryleigh; sisters: Cathleen Miller, Bernadette Stein, Virginia (Ed) Dorn, and the mother of his children, Joan Kraemer.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary, siblings: Pauline, Kearney, George, Leroy, Joe and Marie.
