Robert LeRoy Nelson was born December 2, 1926 in Robbinsdale, MN. He grew up in Robbinsdale where he graduated from high school. Robert joined the United States Navy and served on the east coast. Following World War II Robert returned to Minnesota. On December 6, 1958 Robert was united in marriage to Anna Bahe at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belgrade, MN. The couple made their home in Minneapolis, MN. Robert worked as a truck driver for many years with Land O? Lakes Foods. Following Robert and Ann?s retirement the couple moved to Tucson, AZ in 1990. Robert enjoyed spending time golfing and fishing. In 2010 they returned to Minnesota and made their home in Alexandria. In 2011 Anna died and a short time later Robert moved to Rolling Hills Residence in Barrett, MN. Later he became a resident at Barrett Care Center in January 2013. On Thursday, October 24, 2013 Robert died from Alzheimer?s disease at the Barrett Care center at the age of eighty-six years. His wife, Anna Nelson, preceded Robert in death. He is survived by his brothers-in-law, Richard Bahe, Henry Bahe, William Bahe and Marty Genz; and sister-in-law, Corrine Bahe. A funeral service was held Monday, October 28, 2013 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Reverend Wayne Erickson officiated and Kim Byrne provided music. Interment followed in Kinkead Cemetery.
