Robert Michael Snelson was born August 17, 1968 in Worthington, MN, the son of Robert and Mary (Jensen) Snelson. He grew up near Wilmont, MN and Fulda, MN. In 1980, while in the sixth grade, Bob and his family moved to Donnelly, MN. In 1983 they moved to Alexandria and Bob later graduated from Osakis High School. Bob was a machinist and worked for many different companies including Glenwood American Target, WASP, Lake Mary Elevator Construction, Armstrong Heating & Cooling, Armstrong Construction, Douglas Machine and Brenton Engineering. Most recently he worked for Pro-Fab. On August 27, 2013 Bob was united in marriage to Colette Strutz in Sisseton, SD. The couple made their home in Alexandria. Bob enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. He loved all kinds of hunting. Due to his disability he recently bought a crossbow and was excited to go deer hunting this season. He also spent time fishing in the summer and winter, snowmobiling and riding motorcycle. On Tuesday, November 5, 2013 Bob died at the age of forty-five years following a short battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Snelson; and brother, Roger Saathoff. Bob is survived by his wife, Colette Snelson of Alexandria; sister, Dawn Erickson and fianc�, Larry Dailey, of Alexandria; two stepchildren, Trevor Strutz and Lasandra Strutz; one brother, Daryl Saathoff and wife, Shirley, of Alexandria; one sister-in-law, Anita Saathoff; two stepsisters, Mary and Linda; nieces and nephews, Cory Snelson, Travis Erickson, Mary Saathoff, Kari Saathoff, Sheri Saathoff, Melanie Saathoff and Melissa Saathoff; and many great nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Friday, November 8, 2013 at the New Life Christian Church in Alexandria. Pastor John Taplin officiated. Interment followed in the Geneva Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers included Scott Armstrong, Jason Armstrong, Trevor Armstrong, Bill Anderson, Scott Jaenisch and Cory Snelson. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
