Robert Tvrdik

Robert Alvin Tvrdik was born on January 26, 1953 in Alexandria, Minnesota to Fred and Clara Mae (Bundy) Tvrdik. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Alexandria in 1971. After high school he worked for Riley's Construction for a short time. Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force and was a flying crew chief of a C-130 gunship.
Robert was united in marriage to Paula "Tina" Simmons on October 24, 1975 in Jacksonville, AR. The couple was blessed with three children, LaShanda, Robert Jr., and Chad. Robert retired from the Air Force after 23 years of service in Fort Walton Beach, Fl and then returned to his childhood home of Alexandria MN for four years before moving to Carthage, TX where Robert worked as a head scaler at Louisiana Pacific Sawmill. Robert retired from the sawmill in January of 2015.
Robert was a good husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, bird watching, tinkering, and being outdoors.
Robert died on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Knute Nelson in Alexandria at the age of 63. He is survived by his wife, Paula "Tina" of Waskom, TX ; daughter, LaShanda (Jason) Klimek of Brandon, MN; sons, Robert Jr. (Frankie) Tvrdik of Chester, AR and Chad (Carly McPherson) Tvrdik of Cathage, TX, grandchildren, Christian Tvrdik, Kailee Klimek, Gentry Klimek, Gracin Klimek, Addison Tvrdik, Quincy Tvrdik, and Saylor Tvrdik; siblings, Ralph (Barb) Tvrdik of Alexandria, Roger (Valarie) Tvrdik of Alexandria, Randy (June) Tvrdik of Lowry, Rita (James R) LaCroix of Alexandria, Ronnie (Jill Engebretson) Tvrdik of Alexandria, and Renae (Mark) Molden of Alexandria; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Clara Mae; and niece, Heather Kitzmann.
A funeral service was held on Monday, June 20, 2016 outdoors in the Legacy Gardens at the Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum in Alexandria with Reverend Greg Fondell officiating. Interment was held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Military Honors were provided by the Fort Snelling Honor Guard.
