Rodney Spencer Femrite was born on March 27, 1942 in Alexandria, MN to Stanley and Ruth (Swenson) Femrite. He graduated in 1960 from Jefferson High School in Alexandria. Rodney moved to Minneapolis and worked construction for a time. He started working for Donnelly Plastics in Minneapolis and transferred when the plant moved to Alexandria in 1964, and worked for them for 18 years. Rodney then started farming near Lowry on the family farm. Rodney was united in marriage to Arlou Lindner on December 27, 1971. They made their home on the shores of Lake Latoka in Alexandria. In 1986, Rodney and his son, Jeff started Lind-Rite Precision. During this time he also taught Fluid Power at Alexandria Technical College. In 1991, they moved the business to Osakis and Rodney retired in 2012. Rodney enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He especially enjoyed his motorcycle trip to Sturgis and a fly fishing trip to Canada with his son Mike. Another highlight was a trip to Norway with his sisters. He loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping and racing his #80 stock car at the Viking Speedway, which he held the fastest lap time for awhile. Rodney loved mentoring and helping others and being involved with Teen Challenge, LifeRight and Dads and Lads at New Life Church. Most important to Rodney was being a family man, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was the anchor of the family and will always be remembered for his willingness to help others. Rodney died on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 71. He is survived by his loving wife, Arlou of Alexandria; children, Jeff (Melanie) Lindner of Alexandria, Liz (Kris) Skidmore of Kansas City, MO, and Robert Lindner of Australia; grandchildren, Phanalai Anderson, Bun, Michael, Martha, Maizy, Andrew and Lewis Lindner, and Isaiah, Amber and Lauren Skidmore; great grandchildren, Mariah and Marcus Lindner, and Jabar and Laila Nicholson; sisters, Gloria (Ken) Lundblad of Alexandria and Audrey (Dan) Waage of Alexandria; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Ruth; son, Michael Femrite; and special grandson, Andrew Fladwood. A memorial service was held on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at New Life Church in Alexandria with Reverend John Taplin officiating. Music was provided by pianist, Sue Ronning and soloist, Jody Englund. Interment will be held at a later date. Honorary urn bearers were, Vern Anderson, Art Isackson, Gary Ellis, Tim Ferguson, Mike Lindner, Jay Jensen, Scott Ellis, Mark Foss, and Rodney?s grandchildren and great grandchildren.
