Roger H. Koehn, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on April 19, 2020.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 2 PM with interment and Military Honors to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Mausoleum. Due to COVID-19 all attendees should wear a mask while attending the funeral mass.
A visitation will take place at the Anderson Funeral Home on Saturday, July 25 from 11:30 to 1:30 PM.
Roger Harold Koehn was born in Avoca, Minnesota on April 21, 1944 to Harold and Elaine (Schafer) Koehn at the family home. He attended grade school in Avoca and graduated from high school in Slayton.
Roger was drafted into the military in March 1966 and served as a sergeant in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1968. Roger met the love of his life, Cheryl, and they were married on March 6, 1970.
After vacationing in Alexandria for several years, Roger and Cheryl made their home here in 1976. Following in his father’s footsteps, Roger developed a love for trucking at an early age. In 1984, Roger and Cheryl started RK Transport. Roger was hardworking, dedicated to the business and continued to work until his passing.
Roger’s heart grew fuller with the birth of his two daughters, Sara and Emily. He was a family man and treasured the time spent with his girls. Roger’s greatest enjoyment came with the birth of his grandson, Lennon. He was a proud Papa and loved every minute they were together.
Roger shared a love of cooking and enjoyed Sunday night family dinners as well as entertaining friends. He especially treasured fishing trips to Canada with family. Roger will always be remembered for his courage, kind heart, infectious smile and devotion to his family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cheryl; daughters, Sara (Scott) Koehn-Walberg and Emily (Kyle) Davis; grandson, Lennon Davis; family friend, Dan Louie; brothers, Gerald (Elaine) Koehn and Mark (Virginia) Koehn; sisters, Donna Bertrand and Joan (Harold) Nowak and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents Harold and Elaine, infant daughter, Stacy; brothers, Ronald, David, Craig and Scott; and sister, Shirley Erickson.
