Roger Allen Peck was born February 13, 1948 in Manhattan, KS, the son of Manford and Haroldine (Davis) Peck. Roger and his family lived in Torrance, CA until he completed the seventh grade. The family moved to McHenry, IL where Roger graduated from high school. He continued his education at Judson College.
Roger began work selling tires. He went to work for Sears selling sewing machines. In the early 1970's Roger moved to Palisade, MN to help his ailing father with a wild rice farm. In 1978 Roger was united to Marilyn Mesenbrink. Following Marilyn's death in 1984 Roger moved to Alexandria.
In Alexandria, Roger worked as a rural mail carrier. He met Gweneth Isaacson and they were united in marriage on May 2, 1987 at Calvary Lutheran Church. The couple was blessed with two children, Laura and Annika. In 2008, Roger retired from the postal service due to health concerns.
Roger was a member of Calvary Lutheran church for over thirty years. He was very active in the life of his church. Roger taught Sunday school, served on the church council, sang in the choir and participated in the men's Bible study.
Roger loved the outdoors and enjoyed travelling throughout the Midwest and Canada. He liked to take his family camping and visit historic places. Watching the History Channel and teaching his daughters about history was a favorite thing of Roger's. He also liked trap shooting. One thing people will remember of Roger was his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. He loved people and loved to visit with them.
On Sunday, April 30, 2017 Roger died at the age of sixty-nine years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Marilyn Peck. Roger is survived by his wife, Gweneth Peck of Alexandria; two daughters, Laura and Annika Peck of Alexandria; Marilyn's sons, Tom Mesenbrink of Boise, ID and David Mesenbrink and wife, Brook, of San Diego, CA; brother, Bruce Peck and wife, Charlene, of Denton, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
