Roger Allen was born on July 5, 1950, in Worthington, Minnesota, the son of Harm and Mary (Jensen) Saathoff. He graduated from Alexandria Jefferson Senior High Class of 1968. On May 31, 1969, Roger was united in marriage to Anita Hanson at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. To this union three daughters were born: Sheri, Mary, and Kari. . In 1977, Roger started working for Western Lumber and in 1989 was employed by Hilltop Lumber where he has been ever since. Roger was appreciated by many carpenters throughout the area and was always willing to help and make sure the job was done right. Some of his hobbies included stock car racing, demolition derbies, hunting, and fishing. He also looked forward to time spent with his grandkids. On Thursday, November 19, 2009 a beloved husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend died after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Anita; three daughters: Sheri (Jim) Fermoyle, Mary (Ray), Walters, Kari Saathoff & special friend, Mark Blom; grandchildren: Brittany, McKynzie, Ryan, Jordyn, Cole, Madysin, and Emma; brothers: Daryl (Shirley) Saathoff, Bob Snelson; sister, Dawn Erickson (Larry Dailey); several nieces, nephews, five sister-in-laws and two brother-in-laws He was preceded in death by his parents: Harm Saathoff, Mary Snelson, Brother, Siebe Saathoff. Funeral services were held on Monday, November 23, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at Living Waters Church in Alexandria with Rev. Jim Resa officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were all the Employees of Hilltop Lumber.
