Roger ?Bud? Vernon Wussow was born on February 20,1922 in Mankato, Minnesota to August and Alma (Schaffenberg) Wussow. He was raised and attended school in Mankato. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served for 4 years during WWII. Bud was united in marriage to Donna Wurscher on February 4, 1947. The couple lived in Mankato and Lucan for a few years where Bud worked for REA as an electrician. They were blessed with two children, William (Bill) and Gail. In 1951, the family moved to Bloomington where Bud took a job as an electrician with Ford Motor Company, where he worked for 30 years retiring in 1981. The couple enjoyed retirement living on Pearl Lake near Kimball, and wintering in McAllen, Texas for 20 years. In 2003, the couple moved to Alexandria. Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling, gardening, and being a handyman. Most importantly, Bud loved spending time with his friends and family. Bud died on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Bethany Home in Alexandria at the age of 88. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Donna M. Wussow; son, Bill (Connie) Wussow of Eden Prairie; daughter, Gail Peterson of Lakeville; two grandchildren, Matthew Wussow and Kelly (Paul) Raimondo; two great-grandchildren, Max and Rachel; sisters, Lucille Evenson from Madelia, MN and Shirley Wurscher of Lucan, MN. Bud is preceded in death by his parents, August and Alma; sisters, Sally Nielson and Edna Wussow; and brother, Russel. A memorial service will be held 11 AM on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Alexandria with Reverend Steve Binsfeld officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Inurnment will be held in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Military Honors will be provided by Alexandria American Legion Post 936, VFW Post 87 and Fort Snelling National Honor Guard. Urn bearers are Matthew Wussow and Kelly Raimondo. Memorials are preferred to the Douglas County Hospice in Alexandria. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
