Ronald Edmond Lorsung was born on December 26, 1934, in Millerville, Minnesota, the son of Mathias and Catherine (Koplin) Lorsung. He attended grade school in Millerville and graduated on May 31, 1952 from Central High School in Alexandria.
On June 1, 1952, he entered the United States Navy and went to Boot Camp in Illinois before being stationed on the USS Intrepid CVA #11 as a Gunner during the Korean War. He served his country for eight years in the Navy before being Honorably Discharged June 1, 1960.
On October 21, 1977, Ron was united in marriage to Martha Town in International Falls. The couple lived in Alexandria where Ron worked as custodian and concrete worker. In his younger years he was a professional wrestler and loved to fish, hunt, play his guitar and sing. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Ron was a member of the Alexandria Elks Club, Millerville Legion and the Alexandria VFW.
Ron died on Saturday, January 28, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Martha; children: Debora Linn, Kathy Lorsung, Mary Roberts, Ron Lorsung Jr.; step-children: Heidi Anderson, Wendy Haner, Anita Satthoff, Barb Gravlen; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, twin brother, Donald Lorsung.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 936, VVA Post # 235 and the Minnesota National Honor Guard. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home.
