Rose Marie Jensen was born March 25, 1936 in Holmes City, MN, the daughter of Carl and Lydia (Schoewe) Jensen. She moved to the Leaf Valley, MN area where her parents operated a farm and she attended country school. Following her graduation from high school Rose continued her education, graduating from teacher’s training in Fergus Falls, MN.
Rose began a long career of teaching starting with country schools near Alexandria, MN. On Aug. 2, 1958 she was united in marriage to Harold Kluver. The couple made their home in Alexandria and were blessed with three daughters.
Rose received her master’s degree in Education from St. Cloud State University. She taught for many years at Washington Elementary and later at Voyager Elementary in Alexandria. She specialized in teaching students with learning disabilities. After her retirement from the school district, Rose continued to tutor students; her passion was to help people learn.
In addition to teaching, Rose’s interests included baking and cooking for her family and friends, shopping, and spending time visiting with her many groups of friends. She was a member of Evening Guild and many other social groups. Rose loved visiting and sharing her smile. Rose’s family was very special to her; Rose’s kitchen was always open to family and friends, she enjoyed giving gifts, spending time with her grandchildren and looking after Harold.
On Saturday, November 2, 2019, Rose died at the age of eighty-three years. She was preceded in death by her parents;1 one sister, Joan; and two nephews. Rose is survived by he husband, Harold Kluver of Alexandria; daughters, Kim Rieland and husband, David, Karla Miller and husband, David, and Jacki Kluver, all of Alexandria; grandchildren, Cody Rieland and wife, Greta, Lexi Miller, Calsey Rieland, Cassidy Rieland and Maddie Miller; two great grandchildren, Ginny and Betsy Rieland; and two brothers, Charles Jensen and wife, Audrey, of Parkers Prairie and Kenneth Jensen and wife, Janet, of Alexandria.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday, November 8, 2019, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory.
