Rose Marie (Chan) Berglin was born December 7, 1931 to Louis Sr and Mary (Brosh) Chan. She was one of six children. She passed away September 24, 2023, surrounded by family and love.
Rose Marie and Myron Berglin were married June 9, 1953. Together they had three sons: Randy (Lori), Roger (Vicki), and Ronnie (Char). Their family grew to include eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
Rose Marie kept her kitchen stocked with snacks, sweets, and a fridge full of soda. Her family will remember her famous French toast, “Grandma’s jerky,” beet jelly, flatbread, and lefse. She made anyone visiting their home feel welcome and well-fed. She would always make the mandatory ham sandwiches for deer hunting. She made chocolate chip cookies from memory. We may try to replicate her recipes, but we’ll never quite have her secret ingredients.
Rose Marie spent a lot of time sewing. Her basement was filled with sewing accessories, fabric, and about 10,000 mismatched buttons. She made numerous flannel shirts for Myron and her sons, Halloween costumes, “hankies,” potholders, graduation quilts, the list goes on and on.
She loved watching (and taping on VHS) her “soaps,” figure skating competitions, and the Minnesota Twins. In her younger years, you could catch her and her sisters rolling up to weddings with furs around their shoulders, ready to dance. She was very proud of her Bohemian heritage, passing down many stories and sayings in Bohemian that are still said today.
They traveled many places together, but we’ll always remember seeing Rose Marie and Myron in their favorite spot, sitting in their respective chairs in the living room. Her family is comforted to know Myron greeted her in Heaven and they are dancing together again.
