Roy Snyder Jr.

Roy Edward Snyder Jr. was born at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, MN on December 27th, 1943, to Roy Eddie Snyder Sr. and Rowena Jobe. He attended high school in Wadena, and continued his education at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, MN. Roy worked as a mechanic in Wadena till 1974, and then moved to Alexandria, MN. He continued to work as a top auto mechanic and for three years as a teacher at Alexandria High School from 1978-1980. In 1981, Roy became a service manager for Ford garage and remained in auto repair until his retirement.

Roy’s passion was racing cars. From Viking Speedways to several other local tracks. He acquired over 100 wins and multiple championships throughout his racing career. He served as president, vice-president, and track preparation for several years. During Roy’s off season, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and some snowmobiling. These last few years, he loved being with family, especially the kids and many grandkids. From playing to teaching, Roy loved being with the children.

Roy passed away on Sunday, September 4th, 2022, at Alomere Health at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife: Marcy; children: Richard (Gayle) Snyder, Shaleen (Greg) Wahlstrand, Scott (Sandy) Watt, Becky (Ken) Anderson, Pete Watt, Chris (Kelli) Watt, and Brian (Shiela) Fultz; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Paul, Kathy, Sylvia, Marilyn, and Irene. Roy was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Lilian Bertelson.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 9, 2022, at Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Parkers Prairie Cemetery.
