Ruth Anderson

Ruth was born on September 17, 1927 in McGregor, North Dakota the daughter of William and Rena (Hagen) Harbig. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended country school through the 8th grade. As a young woman Ruth moved to Alexandria where one of her brothers lived. This is where she met Leonard Anderson. The couple was married on June 4, 1948 in McGregor. They stayed in McGregor for one year helping Ruth?s parents with the Harvest and moved back to Alexandria the following Fall. To this union six children were born. Ruth and Leonard worked side by side raising their children and taking care of their home. She was never afraid of taking on any task and was a ?Jane of all trades?. Ruth even made the cabinets in their kitchen on Lake Victoria. Ruth will be remembered as a very caring, sharing woman who?s love for family was very evident. She also enjoyed gardening and was a spectacular cook. She held a special place in her heart for the Hills of North Dakota. On June 4th Ruth and Leonard would have been married for 65 years ? Leonard said ?He didn?t know how he got so lucky?. Ruth died on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Leonard; children: Wanda Buddy of Benson, MN, Lenny & wife, Jo of Long Prairie, Elwood of Alexandria, Marlin of Alexandria, Mark & wife, Karyn of Alexandria, Larry & wife, Marlene; sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters, son-in-law, Richard Buddy. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, 2:00 PM at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
