Sandra Vickerman

Sandra Jean Vickerman was born on November 27, 1945, to Orville and Charlotte (Ronning) Engebretson.  She was baptized in the First English Lutheran Church in Alexandria and confirmed by Reverend Phillip Westby.

Sandy started working at the age of 13 at Osterberg’s Café for 7 years, starting at fountain girl working her way up to waitress.  She then spent a year on the East Coast and worked in New York City for one year.  She moved back to Alexandria and married Roger (Skip) Vickerman in 1969.  Sandy started work at the Viking Motel Restaurant in 1969 and worked there for the next 10 years.  She began working at 3M in 1979 and after 21 years she left 3M and began working for Tastefully Simple, retiring in 2008.   Sandy and Skip also raised hogs on their 120-acre farm SE of Forada and owned and operated J.V. Liquor from 1982-1998.

Sandy and Skip enjoyed bowling, traveling, hunting and gardening together until his death in 2012.  Sandy went on to grow flowers, spend time in her garden, take monthly casino trips and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Sandy J. Vickerman died on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Brandon Assisted Living at the age of 72 years old.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Skip Vickerman, brother, Chuck Engebretson; and her son Damon.

Sandy is survived by her brother, Terry (Carol) Engebretson; sister, Jill Engebretson and her partner Ronnie Tvrdik; nieces, Lauren (Scott) Johnson and Kendra Engebretson and her friend Tyler Carver; nephew, Logan (Aubrey) Engebretson; daughters, Sherry Schanbachler (Michael Sussman) and Dawn Utke; grandchildren, Nathan Field, Jenna Field, Tye Wilke, Dalton Utke, Riley Utke and Stevie Billek; special friends Jerry and Kathy Patrick and their family and Marge Gaebel.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 11 AM at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 5-7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home and also for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.  Interment will be in Kinkead Cemetery.
