Sarah Lawrence-Wieben (Pastor Sarah) was born on February 27, 1949 in Buffalo, New York to Walter and Jane (Barker) Young. She graduated from Oakland High School in Oakland, CA. Sarah attended the University of Maryland and Boise State University where she majored in psychology and minored in business management and marketing. Sarah married Chuck Wieben on September 19, 1990. Together they served with Prison Fellowship with her serving as Field Director in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota and also Angel Tree, volunteer training, mentoring and in-prison seminars. They began, and led for many years, a support group for ex-prisoners in Minneapolis. Sarah was a chaplain for New Visions treatment center and mentored numerous people. She loved to tell stories, read her Bible, and go on long drives with Chuck. Sarah was a member of New Life Christian Church in Alexandria. Sarah went home to her Beloved Jesus on December 10, 2008 at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis at the age of 59. She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Kimmel of Burkburnett, TX, Joelle Lawrence of Wichita Falls, TX, and Ashley Williams of Las Vegas, NV; grandson, Arron Grzybowski; step-daughters, Sarah Wieben of Minneapolis, Carolyn Wieben of Minneapolis, step-son, Brett (Stephanie) Wieben of Minneapolis. Sarah is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Jane; husband, Chuck; and daughter, Jennifer Lawrence. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Monday, December 15, 2008 at the New Life Christian Church in Alexandria with Pastor John Taplin officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were grandson, Arron Grzybowski and Marc Moen and everyone who?s life was touched by Sarah. Memorials are preferred to the Sarah Wieben Memorial Fund at Neighborhood National Bank in Alexandria. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
