Scott Gagner

Scott Arnold Gagner was born on March 6, 1961 in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Rolland and Nancy (Olson) Gagner. Scott graduated from Mentor High School in 1979 and then began working construction with Roers Construction and Ram Construction until 2001. Scott began working at Artic Cat as a generator coordinator for five years before managing the Thief River Golf Club until 2011. He also worked as a salesman for RV Sports during that time. Currently Scott was working as a salesman for Boomerang Sports in Alexandria, MN.

Thirty-six years ago on February 23, 1980, Scott married the love of his life, Catherine Mogen at Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor, MN. Together they raised two sons, Dusty and Nick. Scott followed his boys through their high school and college careers in sports. He was their biggest fan, always giving support and little tips here and there to become better players and men. Golfing with his sons and buddies at Thief River Golf Club, taking nice day trips with his wife Cathie on his Harley, and grilling throughout the year were just a few of Scott's past times. Scott had a gift to connect with children of all ages. He loved making people laugh and was always ready with a quick witted comment. Scott was a man who never judged anyone and a man who loved his family and friends.

Family was very important to him, so spending quality time with his wife, sons, parents and siblings was never a question for Scott. Scott's loving actions and words that he said to his wife Cathie every time he left home "I love you" and then a kiss, should be things everyone should give to those they love. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

Scott A. Gagner died from an accidental drowning in Lake Miltona on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the age of 55 years old. He is survived by his loving wife Cathie Gagner of Miltona, sons; Dusty Gagner and fiancé Michaela Wandersee of Watertown and Nick Gagner and significant other Taija Noel of Fargo, ND, parents; Rolland and Nancy Gagner of Erskine, brothers; Mark (Lollie) Gagner of West Fargo, ND, Jim Gagner of Marshall, sister-in-law Lyn Sebenaler and significant other Mark Trieschmann of Wadena, mother-in-law; Vonie Peterson of Thief River Falls, nieces and nephews, Ashely Gagner of Bronxville, NY, Tiffany (Eric) Sackett of Army post Caserma Ederle Vicenza, Italy, Deja Gagner of Maple Grove, Dylan Gagner of West Fargo, April (Jeff) Lamb of Phoenix, AZ, Tracy (Nick) Spero of Savage, great niece and nephew Shayera and Emmett Spero. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law Morris Mogen, sister-in-law Judy Wilkins, and his niece Ariel Gagner.

A Celebration of Scottie's life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Thief River Golf Club from 4-7PM with a Time of Sharing beginning at 5:30PM. In Lieu of flowers memorials to be made to Thief River Falls Baseball Association, 101 Knight Avenue South, Thief River Falls, MN 56701.
