Scott Thomas Taveirne was born June 12, 1955 in Marshall, Minnesota to Donna (Blanchette) and Lawrence Taveirne, Sr. He spent most of his young life in the Marshall area before the family moved to Villard, MN in 1965. He graduated from Villard High School in 1974 where he played basketball and found his first love, cars.
Scott was an entrepreneur his entire life. In his early 20’s he owned a gas station in Alexandria. He later ran a delivery service and taxi cab business. However, Scott had the most passion for his work on cars. In 1980, he started Taveirne Auto Sales where he loved to help people and provide best in class service. His business philosophy was to always treat people right.
Scott was a hard worker. Anytime you stopped by the house, you’d find him in the shop, tinkering on something. No matter how busy he was, he would always take the time to “shoot the breeze,” offering a piece of candy from his desk drawer. Scott loved spending time with his many friends, the “jokesters” as he liked to call them. He had a nickname for everyone and was well known for catch phrases like “Keep it under 100” and “10ft Wheel Stands.” Scott had a passion for cars and hot rods, building his own fire red 1979 Chevy Shortbox 502 Big Block from scratch in the 2000’s. He was always kind, generous, and loved to make others smile. When he wasn’t in the shop, he liked to spend time with his wife Melanie, with whom he was united in marriage on February 11, 2017, his children and grandchildren, and his many friends.
Scott passed away at his home on April 16, 2019. He will be missed by us all.
