Selma Wussow

Selma Freida Wussow was born on December 25, 1917, in Miltona, Minnesota the daughter of Fred and Emma (Krese) Henning. She was baptized and confirmed in German at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in West Miltona. She attended country school through the 8th grade. Selma was united in marriage to Edwin Wussow on June 14th, 1940 at Zion Lutheran Parsonage. The family farmed in the Osakis and Garfield area before buying the family farm in Leaf Valley, where they farmed for almost 40 years - retiring in 1976. Before retiring from the farm Selma also cooked at Pilgrim Point and Mount Carmel during the summer. After retiring from the farm Selma worked at the DAC as a cook. She enjoyed making buns, bread, cinnamon rolls, glazed raised donuts, decorating birthday cakes for her grandkids. During the summer months Selma would bake buns and glazed raised donuts for tourists and resorts. Bailey from Bailey's Resort would come in his bright yellow Cadillac convertible with the top down to pick up cinnamon rolls and bread for the resort.
