Sharon Herzog

May 13, 1943 — September 16, 2014

Sharon Louise was born on May 13, 1943, in Alexandria, Minnesota the fourth child of Lloyd and Lenora (Mattson) Berglin. The bond between her and her two sisters was exceptional, it started as young children when they would walk together to a one room school house. At the age of 15 Sharon moved to town and worked at Our Lady of Mercy as a Candy Striper – her love of a nursing career started at this time. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1961.
Sharon married Frankie Herzog on June 17, 1961. To this union three sons were born.
Sharon worked for Dr. Kuhlmann at the Alexandra Clinic for eighteen years, she went onto Nursing School in Fergus Falls, graduated with an LPN Degree, giving the commencement message at her graduation, and once again returned to the Alexandria Clinic working for Dr. Kuhlman. She also worked at Knute Nelson Care Center for several years, for Dr. Ronning at St. Cloud Medical Group, Dr. Emblom at Alexandria Clinic, and retiring from Centra Care Clinic in St. Cloud.
She was a person who had a passion for taking care of people, and with three sons, there was always plenty of home mending to do from different incidents.
Sharon will be remembered as a person who took care of things, quick witted for constant humor, amazing cook and baker but above all she was a true caregiver.
Sharon died on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. She is survived by her three sons: Shawn (Karin) of Phoenix, Brian of Melrose, Shane (Marilyn) of Phoenix; grandchildren: Jessica Duncan, Kristin Ellstrom, Francis Herzog, James Herzog, Anthony, Garett, Zachary Herzog; two great granddaughters: Ayvah Duncan & Angel Ellstrom; sisters: Kathleen Wheeler of Apple Valley, MN, Mary Ida (Russell) Oorlog of Alexandria, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: James & Stuart; significant other, Gordon Kohout; brother-in-law, Douglas Wheeler; sister-in-law, Lois Berglin.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
