Sharon Range

Sharon Kay Pikop was born March 25, 1941 in Fergus Falls, MN, the daughter of Donald and Margaret Pikop, passed away July 27, 2016 after a brief illness.

Sharon grew up and spent her early years on a grain and livestock farm SW of Elbow Lake, MN. She attended two years of country school and finished the balance of her early education at Elbow Lake High School, graduating with honors in 1959. She was active in band, speech, National Honor Society, and showed cattle in 4 H for many years. Sharon attended the University of Minnesota, Mpls/St Paul, graduating in 1963 with a BS degree in Home Economics. She taught high school Home Economics in Tintah, MN and Elbow Lake for several years.

She married Douglas Range in 1964 and together they had one son, Ross, residing in Elbow Lake and Ashby, MN until mid 80's. Sharon very much valued education and went back to Moorhead State University and received a Masters Degree in Counseling. She went on to work in Career Counseling at the Alexandria Technical College in Alexandria, MN for over 20 years. In retirement, Sharon was an avid CNN and Minneapolis Star Tribune news junkie, faithfully did the daily Star Tribune Crypto Quip, and loved finishing each day with David Letterman. She loved going to local auctions and thoroughly enjoyed having and going to garage sales. She was very proud to be an alumni of the University of Minnesota.

She is survived by her son Ross of Fergus Falls, MN, her brother Donn of Minneapolis, MN, several Pikop/Huseth first cousins, along with many great friends.

A interment will be held on August 1, 2016 at Ness Cemetery, just outside of Elbow Lake, MN. Memorials preferred to the Alexandria Technical College Foundation or the First Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN.
