OBITUARY
Dr. Sheila Marie Froemming, MD was born on July 30, 1975 in Alexandria to Steven and Sandra (Uhde) Froemming. She graduated in 1993 from Jefferson High School and furthered her education at the University of Minnesota, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Spanish. Sheila met John Makosky in the courtyard of Lind Hall on the U of M campus in 1995. After dating for nearly eight years, they were united in marriage on May 31, 2003 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Leaf Valley, MN. Three daughters were born, Ella (6) and twins Grace and Lily (4).
From a young age, Sheila wanted to become a physician and help those with illness. She made her dream a reality by entering Medical School at the U of M Duluth. Sheila spent her third year of medical school in the Rural Physician's Associate Program (RPAP), which landed her in Staples, MN, thusly beginning a close relationship with that community. She completed her residency training at the Center for Family Medicine in Sioux Falls, SD in 2006, and began her practice at Lakewood Health System in Staples as a Family Practice Physician. She was a woman who pursued excellence in all facets of her life: first, in her work, by becoming an outstanding physician who was admired by her patients and peers; second, in her family by being a loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister; and generally in her life, by always giving of herself to others who needed help.
Sheila enjoyed outdoor activities with her family such as hiking, cross-country skiing, and gardening. She also enjoyed music, whether listening to, singing, or playing the piano. Sheila was a very giving woman who shared her time, friendship, and love with all who knew and loved her. She will be remembered for inspiring excellence in her family and patients, as well as being a loving wife and mother to her family.
Dr. Sheila M. Froemming passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2014, at her home, at the age of 39 years.
