Sherry Christenson

Sherry Ann Joel was born July 11, 1952 in Albert Lea, MN, the daughter of Omar and Beulah (Boettcher) Joel. She was raised and attended school in Albert Lea. Sherry moved to the Twin Cities where she lived with her sister, Martha. Sherry was united in marriage to Mark Perhus, Sr. Mark was serving in the US Marines and Sherry made her home wherever Mark was stationed. Sherry was blessed with three children, Teresa, Mark and Dawn. On June 29 1983 Sherry was married to Steven Christenson. The couple made their home in Pipestone, MN for a short while. Sherry and Steven moved to a farm in central Todd County where they have lived for many years. Recently the couple moved to Clarissa, MN. Sherry enjoyed spending time doing crosswords and craftwork. She loved watching movies on her DVD player. Spending time with her family and grandchildren was very important to Sherry. On Monday, June 30, 2008 Sherry died at the age of fifty-five years. Her parents; one daughter, Dawn Rickert; and one sister, Martha Parkhurst, preceded her in death. Sherry is survived by her husband Steven Christenson of Clarissa, one daughter, Teresa Tuttle and husband, Corey, of Austin, MN; one son, Mark Perhus, Jr. and wife, Katy of Alexandria, MN; one son-in-law, Rodney Rickert of Miltona, MN; seven grandchildren, Shayla, Alicia and Brook Perhus, Rodney, Ashley and Bradley Rickert and Brian Joel; two sisters, Kathleen Rheim and husband, Whitney, of Albert Lea and Laura Joel of Albert Lea; five brothers, Roy Joel and wife, LuWanna, of Albert Lea, Omar Joel, Jr. of Albert Lea; Charlie Joel and wife, Judy, of Austin, MN, Gene Joel and wife, Lynn, Jim Joel and wife, Marcy, of Badger, MN; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, MN. Arrangements were with Anderson Funeral Home.
