Sheryl (Wrolson) Listrom was born on August 9, 1946 in Alexandria, MN; beloved daughter of Lawny and Florence Wrolson. She grew up on a farm outside of Garfield and spent her early years attending a small country school a little over a mile from her home. This is where she developed her life-long love of reading. She later attended Alexandria High School and graduated in 1964. Following high school, she attended Alexandria Vocational Technical School, earning her secretarial certification, but her true calling was that of a wife and mother.
She was united in marriage to Ron Listrom, her husband of 53 years, on July 16, 1966 at East Moe Lutheran Church. Shortly after, she and Ron moved to Gregory, SD where he embarked on his teaching career and she became a mother giving birth to their first child, Bobbi. Following one year at Gregory, SD they moved to Cleveland, MN for a year, then they were at Lynd, MN for nine years. During this time, they were blessed with two more children – Chad and Gregg. They finally worked their way back home to central Minnesota settling down roots in Ashby, MN where they lived twenty-three years. Summers were always spent on Lobster Lake, where they enjoyed boating, water skiing, knee boarding and fishing. All three kids became quite skilled at knee boarding. They eventually built their retirement dream home surrounded by the lake on three sides on Lawny’s Circle. The land had been owned by Sheryl’s dad, Lawny, therefore the name.
Sheryl and Ron also made time every summer to introduce their kids to almost the entire country. They took family road trips to 49 of the 50 states! Their many adventures - and misadventures - made for side-splitting stories. Picture the “Listrom Family Vacation” to the movie “Vacation” with Chevy Chase going to “Wally World!” Sheryl, being from a small community, did not completely trust places that were not familiar to her when they were on vacation. When leaving the hotel room for an outing, or out to eat for the evening, she would leave the TV and all the lights on as if to deter people if they had any thoughts of breaking into the hotel room while they were out.
Sheryl was an amazing cook and loved to entertain friends and family. Being Ron and her sons were avid hunters and fishermen, Sheryl had ample opportunities to perfect her recipes for fried walleye, sunfish nuggets, wild duck, goose, pheasant and venison which could easily rival any of the most famous chefs in the world. She also made traditional Scandinavian dishes including lefsa and lutefisk, the latter of which was appreciated at various levels by members of her family.
Not only was Sheryl busy as a devoted wife and mother raising her family, she also began her own career. She first worked with the telephone company and later with Bremer Bank working in the loan department for almost 30 years.
Sheryl peacefully passed away with members of her family at her side on February 3, 2025 at the age of 78.
Sheryl is survived by her children: daughter, Bobbi (Jeff) Kluver; sons: Chad Listrom and Gregg Listrom; brother, Ron (Marian) Wrolson; sister-in-law, Elsie Listrom (Dave Wood); grandchildren, Olivia Listrom and Logan Listrom; nephew, Alexander Listrom Wood; nieces: Joy Wrolson (Wes Beal), Jana (Scott) Dillingham, Lisa (Chris) Nickel-Felton; great-nieces and nephews: Ava, Henry, Sophia Dillingham, Noah and Simon Nickel-Felton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron, parents; Lawny and Florence Wrolson; father and mother-in-law, Ragnar and Ethel Listrom; and great-niece, Kara Dillingham.
A special thank you to the staff at the Memory Care Unit at Pelican Bay (Bethany), Alexandria Assisted Living and Moments Hospice for all the love and care Sheryl received over the last year and a half.
