Shirley Faehnrich

Shirley Ann was born on March 21, 1928, the daughter of Howard and Lillian (Ness) Herdman. She grew up in Almora, Minnesota and graduated from Parkers Prairie High School. Shirley continued her education at Bethesda Nursing School in the Twin Cities where she received her RN Degree.

In October of 1951, Shirley was united in marriage to Maurice Faehnrich in South Dakota. After their marriage the couple moved to Alexandria where they raised their two daughters Beata Kaye and Barbara. Shirley worked as a nurse at Alex Clinic, Douglas County Hospital and started Public Health Nursing in Douglas County.

Over the years she enjoyed playing bridge, working in her flower garden, knitting, quilting and fishing. Shirley and Maurice were members of First Lutheran Church, Shalom Lutheran Church and were very active in the Lions Club.
Shirley died on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. She is survived by her two daughters: Beata Kaye Erickson of Willmar, Barbara Faehnrich of Alexandria; five grandchildren: Allen, Jessica, Bryan (Jeni), Ben, Joe; four great grandchildren: Kylee, Eliana, Olivia, Carter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice; great grandchild, Brody; brother, Don; son-in-law, Gary.

Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at Shalom Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Justin Fenger officiating. Musical selections were by Ruth Blom. Honorary Pallbearers were her grandchildren: Allen Erickson, Jessica Butler, Bryan Erickson, Ben Johnson, Joe Johnson. Burial was at the Elmo Lutheran Cemetery in Elmo Township. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home.
