Shirley Kay Fehr, 76, of Alexandria, MN passed peacefully on March 22, 2019 in her home.
Shirley was born on April 2, 1942 in Tracy, MN, to Walter and Ruth (Weedman) Gremmert. She graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1960 and attended Gustavus Adolphus College. She married Kenneth Ernest Fehr on September 14, 1963, and they raised three children.
She is survived by her children, Deborah Fehr, John (Tanya) Fehr, and Mary (Paul) Petersen, grandchildren Ellee and Jack Petersen, Josh Fehr, Henry Fehr, and sister, Sandy (Dennis) Schroepfer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Darold Gremmert.
Shirley and Kenneth moved to the Alexandria area in 1970 and became owners of the Skelly Gas Station and Restaurant located at Highway 29 and Interstate 94. Shirley worked most of her life in the hospitality at restaurants including Travelers’ Inn, the Brass Lantern and D&R Café. She was a member of the Eagles 3063 and was very active for many years.
Shirley enjoyed bingo, cross-stitching, putting together puzzles and watching the Hallmark channel. She loved living at the lake, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren. Later in life she was also a founding member of the WRAP (Weedman Retirees and Partners) group that met a least once a month at a local restaurant and took occasional trips.
A memorial service will be held 1:30 PM on Friday, March 29, 2019, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at the Anderson Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
