Shirley Ann Ingalls Moench, the daughter of Theobald and Frieda (Sailer) Finck, was born on March 24, 1951, in Richardton, ND at the Richardton Memorial Hospital. She graduated from Hebron High School in 1969 and then furthered her education at the National College of Business with a degree in Business Administration in 1970. In October of 1973, Shirley married Dale Ingalls. Together they raised a daughter, Denise and lived in West Fargo, then moved to Brooklyn Center where Dale had passed away in April 1987. God blessed her life once again when Shirley met Lee Moench. They were united in marriage on June 15, 1990 in Coon Rapids, MN. Together they lived in Coon Rapids until 2004 when they made the decision to be closer to family and move to Garfield, MN.
Early in her career, Shirley worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, US WEST, and then Qwest for 27 years in various roles and cities and lastly as a Project Manager in Minneapolis. After moving to Garfield, she worked for Rural Cellular Corporation and Verizon Wireless in Alexandria as an Engineering Project Manager until her health had declined. Shirley also worked as a legal secretary and various other jobs earlier in her life.
When Shirley was not working, she volunteered her time with numerous organizations over the years. This included serving on the Cass-Clay County Board of Directors; United Way Co-Chair, facilitator, and volunteer; Secretary/Treasurer for Woodland Park Homeowners Association; US WEST Community Service Team Member; Telephone Pioneer Member; Officer and Member of CWA Local 7303 (Fargo) and member of CWA Local 7300 (Mpls); and a volunteer at Fridley Convalescent Home.
Shirley was an avid reader, scrapbooker, and photographer. She loved flowers, gardening, cooking and baking. She collected books, angels, and lets not forget the Beanie Babies, especially the bears; which at one time she had her own “Beanie Baby Clothing Consultant.”
Even though Shirley seemed busy with work and volunteering, she always had time for her family and friends. She was a caring and loving wife. She was a wonderful mother whom her daughter would find love, advice, and peace whenever they were together. She loved her family and friends and visits with them always meant so very much. She had a way of making everyone she met feel loved and special. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
