Shirley Ann Syvrud

Shirley Ann (Dawson) Syvrud passed away on September 2^nd, 2023, at Bethany on Lake in Alexandria, MN.  Shirley was born on October 3^rd, 1935, in Parkers Prairie Minnesota, to Donald and Beatrice Dawson. 

She met her lifetime partner Joe Syvrud in high school and later married him on June 22^nd, 1958, at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria.  Shirley worked as an Executive Secretary at Alex State Bank and later she worked for Multiple Listing Service (MLS).  She was most known for selling Fuller Brush products for over 40 years, a skill she learned from her father, Don.  She had a passion for reading books, sitting on the porch by the lake and loved playing pull tabs.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband “Papa” Joe Syvrud; Father Donald Dawson; Mother Beatrice Dawson and sister Connie Jahnke.

She is survived by her sons; Jeffrey (Fran) Syvrud, Steve Syvrud (partner Debra Russell); five grandchildren; Sam (Jill) Syvrud; Jessica Syvrud (fiancé Henry Van Liew), Amber (Ryan) Kennedy, Dawson Syvrud and Davin Syvrud; and one great-grandchild; Brody Kennedy.  Additionally, remembered by extended family member and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 25, 2023, at 10am, followed by the memorial service at 11am both at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria.  A burial will follow at Kinkead cemetery.
