Shirley Ann Wogan age 70 of Alexandria died on Sunday, May 03, 2015 at Bethany Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 1PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Shirley Ann Wogan was born on September 14, 1944 in Alexandria, MN, the second oldest of twelve children to Sylvester and Marietta (Thoennes) Schmidt Sr. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1962. She was united in marriage to Vinton Wogan Jr. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria on July 25, 1965. Together they spent time in California while Vinton served in the United States Navy. Two children were born to this union, Kevin and Karla. Shirley raised her children near Nelson, MN on a hobby farm before moving to Alexandria.

Shirley worked at Anderson Florist for a number of years and also at the Holiday Gas station and Elden’s Fresh Foods on the night shifts. She was proud to be an independent woman, who gave her time and love generously to those in need and to her family. She loved visiting with family and friends and was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Shirley was a wonderful mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister who will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Shirley A. Wogan died on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Bethany Home in Alexandria at the age of 70 years old. She is survived by her father, Sylvester Schmidt Sr. of Alexandria; son, Kevin (Dawn) Wogan of Burnsville, MN; daughter, Karla (Todd) Atwater of Alexandria; six grandchildren Kayla (Lucas) McKirdy, Timothy Atwater, Leah Wogan, Kaleb Atwater, Eric Wogan, and Travis Atwater. She is also survived by her siblings, Sylvester (Bev) Schmidt Jr, Sandie (Steve) Serba, Steve (Lavern) Schmidt, Stan (Cindy) Schmidt, Stu (Deb) Schmidt, Sid Schmidt, Shane (Vickie) Schmidt, Sue (Terry) Emter, Sterling Schmidt, and Sheila (Brian) Fultz, all of Alexandria, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marietta Schmidt and a brother, Sheldon Schmidt.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria. Interment was in the church cemetery. Casket Bearers were all of Shirley’s brothers.
