Stan Olson, age 80, of Alexandria, formerly of St. Paul, died Tuesday, September 22, 2015. A funeral service will be held 2 PM, Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Interment will follow in the Kinkead Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 PM Saturday at the Anderson Funeral Home.
OBITUARY
Stanley Gene Olson was born August 28, 1935 in St. Paul, MN, the son of Alma Olson. Stan grew up in St. Paul where he attended school. Following his schooling Stan left the city to work as a farm laborer; he worked on farms in South Dakota and western Minnesota. Stan also worked for Burlington Railways for a number of years.
In October 1955 he was united in marriage to Antoinette Ironi. The couple made their home in St. Paul and were blessed with five children. Stan worked at Cemstone where he learned how to do concrete work. Stan ran his own service station and delivered fuel oil. Later he became a realtor and operated his own realty company.
In April 1992 he was united in marriage to Donna DuFresne. They made their home in Maplewood and were blessed a son. In 2002 Stan and Donna moved to Alexandria, MN where they have continued to reside. Stan worked for school district 206 as a bus driver. He retired from driving in 2009 due to shoulder problems.
Stan was a longtime member of the Teamsters and the Minnesota Association of Realtors.
Stan enjoyed the outdoors. For many years prior to moving to Alexandria he spent time in the area at Lake Mary. He fished in the summer and winter and enjoyed all kinds of hunting. He enjoyed trips to Alaska for halibut fishing. Stan was an avid Vikings fan.
On Tuesday, September 22, 2015 Stan died at the age of eighty years. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Alma and Chester Emerson and two brothers, Henry Olson and Mel Emerson. Stan is survived by his wife, Donna Olson of Alexandria; sons, Austin ‘AJ’ Olson of Alexandria, Marty Olson and wife, Ann, of Eagan, MN, Michael Olson and wife, Diane, of Hampshire, IL, Charles Olson of Burnsville, MN and Christopher Olson and wife, Tammy, of Hugo, MN; daughter, Vicki Waldusky of Golden Valley, MN; grandchildren, Jamie Campbell, Eric Schumacher, Jacob Olson, Benjamin Olson, Jessica Olson, Corey Olson, Melissa Shreve, Amanda Jarrels, Vanessa Olson, Aaron Olson, Kyle Olson, Robert Waldusky, Edward Olson, Thomas Olson, Alexander Olson and Tony Olson; many great grandchildren; three brothers, Chester Emerson of Greenville, SC, Keith Emerson and wife, Sue, of Brainerd, MN, and Donald Emerson of Maple Grove, MN; and two sisters, Judith Piette of Colorado and Sharon Emerson.
A funeral service was held Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Reverend Wayne Erickson officiated. Interment followed in the Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers included all of Stanley’s grandchildren.
