Steven Ray Anderson was born on Sept. 21, 1955 to Gladys and Ray Anderson in Minneapolis, MN. He was the middle child of three boys. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1973. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1973 and while in California he met his future wife, Becky. They were married on June 10, 1978 in Onawa, IA. Steve worked for his Father-in-law at Solberg Well Co. in Moorhead, IA. for a time and then decided to go back to school and attended Western Iowa Tech for Heating and Air Conditioning, graduating in 1979.
They moved to Columbia Heights, MN. He started working for Advanced Circuits, Inc. He worked here for many years in varying capacities from 1980 thru 1994. He then worked for ITC Intercircuits which was headquartered in Germany, traveling worldwide from 1994 thru 2002. He had to leave this job due to a heart attack on Oct. 2, 2002. At this time he was put on an L-Vad assist device to maintain his life.
Steve and Becky moved to Malmo, MN. And then in Sept. of 2003 he received a heart transplant. During his lifetime in Malmo, he spent his time enjoying fishing and riding his Harley Davidson. He also owned and operated “Broken Heart Charters” as Captain “Duke”.
Growing up in this family were three daughters: Sherri, Amy, and Kelli. After their marriages they presented Steve and Becky with eight grandchildren and a little later with 5 great-grandchildren.
Steve had been quite ill before his death at home on Fri. Aug. 29, 2014. Family members were present. He is survived by his wife, Becky; daughters: Sherri (Mark) Racobs, Amy (Tom) Greenly, Kelli (Steve) Anderson; grandchildren: Kayla, Miranda, Angela, Nicole, Dakota, Abby, Layton, Taya, and great grandchildren: Markus, Julyan, Austen, Rhen, Evelyn; brothers: Gary Anderson. Tim (Lori) Anderson and son, Dan; mother-in-law, JoAnn Solberg. numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews and other loved ones and many friends. Steve is preceeded in death by his parents, Gladys and Ray Anderson; father-in-law Don Solberg and brother –in-law Jeff Solberg.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with Reverend Darryl Knappen officiating. Military Honors were provided by American Legion Post 87, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 936, Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 235, and the Minnesota National Honor Guard.
