Steven Allen Vickerman

Steven Allen Vickerman was born on November 8, 1954, to Clifford and Marina (Dwyer) Vickerman in Sauk Centre, MN. He grew up in Minneapolis, MN and graduated from Spring Lake Park High School in 1972. After high school, Steven enlisted in the Airforce and completed basic training in San Antonio, TX. He was stationed in Mountain Home, ID working in avionics until his honorable discharge in 1977.

Steven attended Alexandria Technical and Community College and Clover Park Technical School in Tacoma, WA to further his knowledge in avionics. Steven met Kathleen Craton through her brother who was also enlisted in the Airforce. The couple was married in June 1975 in Mountain Home, ID. They built their home and enjoyed doing everything together, especially going on motorcycle rides, boating, and gardening. They had two sons, Marshal and Garrett. The family moved to Kent, WA and then continued to raise their sons in Alexandria, MN. Steven owned Exhaust Pros in Alexandria for 3 years prior to commuting to Minneapolis to work at Crystal Shamrock as an avionics mechanic. After several years of this commute, Steven began working at SunOpta as a maintenance technician.

Steven was a strong father figure for his sons and their friends. He was a very involved father who taught his sons many life skills such as car maintenance, managing finances, and how to have a strong moral compass. Steven loved to ride motorcycle, especially with Kathleen, Marshal, and Garrett. He enjoyed reading and liked to continue to educate himself and learn about new things. Steven’s favorite holiday was the Fourth of July and he enjoyed hosting gatherings at their lake lot on July 4^th and many other days in the summer. He was a great husband and dad and will be dearly missed.

Steven Vickerman passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathleen; sons, Marshal (Jenna) Vickerman and Garrett (Shanna) Vickerman; grandchildren, Greg Reddese, Gretta Klein, Taylor Kludt, and Remington and Graham Vickerman; brother, Rod Vickerman; uncles, John and Dick Dwyer; and aunt, Christine Dwyer. Steven is preceded in death by his parents; and several aunts and uncles.
