Susan Kay Vieregge, age 70, of Alexandria, Minnesota, passed away on November 1, 2024. Born in Albert Lea, Sue lived a life full of joy, laughter and love for her family.
Sue graduated from Albert Lea High School. She then attended the University of Minnesota, Morris where she met her husband, Gregg Vieregge. The couple was united in marriage on June 16, 1973. Following graduation, they moved to Alexandria. Sue and Gregg were blessed with two children, Brian and Alissa.
Sue found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She had a talent for sewing and crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that were cherished by all who received them. A devoted reader, Sue found great joy in her book club. Her heart was happiest on Lake Mary, where she’d enjoy peaceful pontoon rides watching the sun dip below the horizon. Her love for animals was unwavering, and she treasured the companionship of her beloved dogs and cats, both past and present. Her warmth and creativity touched everyone around her, leaving a legacy of love and light.
Sue worked at First Bank, Job Services of Minnesota, and then Central Specialties where she retired seven years ago.
Sue is survived by her husband, Gregg; children, Brian (Jenae), Alissa (Danny); grandchildren, Savannah and Evan; brothers, Gary Distad (Amy), Jay LaVallie (Christine), sister Julie Gallagher. Sue was proceeded in death by her father Roger Distad and mother Alice (Ladlie) LaVallie.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church (1655 18th Ave E) in Alexandria, with visitation starting at 10:00 AM. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
