Swede Falk

Eldo John ?Swede? Falk was born on November 18, 1918, in Carlos, Minnesota, the son of John and Lydia (Kindblom) Falk. He attended grade school in Carlos and graduated from Alexandria High School Class of 1938. While attending Alex High he was a star halfback for the Cardinal Football team and was also a member of the high school baseball team. In September of 1940 Swede went with the Alexandria National Guard and served his country during World War II. He was Honorably Discharged in August of 1945. In June of 1949 Swede was united in marriage to Sally Gullgren. To this union three sons were born: Gale, Greg and Gary. Throughout his life Swede worked as a bartender and was employed by the different Clubs in Alexandria and the Alexandria Municipal. He also managed the Clearbrook Municipal. Swede enjoyed fishing and hunting. Swede died on Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Veterans Home in Fergus Falls. He is survived by his wife, Sally; son, Gary of Eagle Bend; three grandchildren: Trisha, Jeremy and Jamie; seven great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Moen of Alexandria. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 9, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at the New Life Christian Church in Alexandria with Rev. John Taplin officiating. Pallbearers were Chuck Porter, Dan Roby, Darryl Stout, Gary Lund, Jay Jensen, Mark Moen. Military Honors were by MN National Guard and the VFW Post #936 & American Legion Post #87. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
