OBITUARY Theola Hendrina Velde was born on December 13, 1922 in Appleton, MN the daughter of Steven and Manga (Mikkelson) Lund. She graduated from Maynard High School in 1940 and later that year she married the love of her life George Velde. One son David was born to this union. Together they farmed and made their home near Maynard, MN for many years. Theola helped George with the farming by raising chickens and selling the eggs to local grocery stores. She also worked at Aldred?s Department Store in Granite Falls, MN and then managed the Fabrific Store in Montevideo, MN. Theola was part of ?The Lund Sisters? singing group. Theola and her sisters sang on the radio and at many farm organization meeting. George and Theola retired from farming in 1981 and then moved to Montevideo. Theola was involved with the Ladies Aide at Maynard Lutheran Church for many year as well as church activities at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Fond memories of David and his family include watching Theola making lots of lefse, quilting, crocheting and hardanger. She also was known for her love of playing cards. She was a tender hearted, caring, and gentle woman who was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She will be forever missed by her family and friends. Theola H. Velde died on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Bethany Home in Alexandria at the age of 91 years old. She is survived by her son David (Brenda) Velde of Alexandria; grandchildren Nick (Val) Velde of Roseville, MN and Elizabeth (Aaron) Paul of Alexandria; great grandchildren James and Sam Velde of Roseville, MN and Emma Krohnfeldt of Alexandria; sisters Mavis Weingartner of Minneapolis, MN and Eunice Skeie of Granite Falls, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband George Velde, parents, and sisters Mary Jane Erickson and Sylvia Skrukrud. A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Mike Widner officiating. Interment was in the Sunset Cemetery in Montevideo, MN.
