Therese Piekarski

Therese Ann (Ludwig) Piekarski was born one of nine children on November 14, 1926 in Duluth, MN to Charles and Verena (Rodenkirch) Ludwig. She attended grade school and High School in Duluth. She worked until she married Richard Piekarski on June 15, 1949 in Duluth. They settled on a farm five miles from Flensburg, MN for 25 years. They purchased Lake Reno Resort, Glenwood in 1974. They operated that until building their retirement home in 1978 and fully retired in 1989. Therese enjoyed reading, cribbage, playing cards and scrabble, watching soap operas, and talking on the phone. She also was active with the missions and teaching religion at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lake Reno Township. Therese died on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Knute Nelson at the age of 84. She is survived by her six sons, James (Diane) of Swanville, Terrence (Debby) of Glenwood, Edward (Cheryl) of Forada, Allen (Sandy) of Villard, Robert (Mary) of Buffalo, and Tom (Sharon) of Rosemount; two daughters, Mary (Donald) Millner of Paynesville and Patrice (Mike) Otremba of Lowry; sister-in-law, Carol Piekarski of Little Falls; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Therese is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; son, Carl; infant son, parents, Charles and Verena; granddaughter; three brothers; four sisters; and many other relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Alexandria with Reverend Steve Binsfeld officiating. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Flensburg. Casket bearers were Douglas Millner, Mitchell Piekarski, Samuel Piekarski, Jessica Staples, Michael Piekarski, Jeffrey Piekarski, Andrew Piekarski, Roberta Piekarski and Karen Piekarski. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
