Thomas Quist

Mick was born on April 16, 1927 in Glenwood, MN, the son of Orning and Floss (Shippey) Quist. Mick married Dorothy Bradford in 1949 and they spent their entire married life in Alexandria. Mick was a long term employee of the REA in Alexandria and retired from there in 1989.  He was also proud to serve as a captain in the Alexandria Fire Department. Mick served in the Marine Corps at the conclusion of World War II. Mickey enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching football.  His favorite activity was the time he spent with his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mickey passed away peacefully at his son Mike’s home on May 13, 2018. He was 91 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his parents Floss and Orning Quist, and sisters, Babe Wick and Jackie O’Brien.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Cheri) Quist of Alexandria, Peggy Liedholm of Arden Hills, MN, Terry (Sue) Quist of Alexandria, and Jean Quist (Kim Slogar) of White Bear Lake, MN; 11 grandchildren: Becky (Charlie) Roehl, Andy (Tricia) Quist, Lori (Grant) Butler, Nick (Nicole) Paulson, Jessica (Hunter) Shoultz, Emily Ness (Adolfo Castro), Cally Quist, Austen Slogar, Kirsten Ness, Maggie Paulson, Thomas Quist;  10 great grandchildren: Sam Roehl, Ella Roehl, Charlotte Roehl, Drew Roehl, Alex Quist, Emma Quist, Becca Quist, Zoey Butler, Atticus Shoultz, Amelia Paulson; as well as many relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alexandria Education Foundation.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 5-7 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Service at the Anderson Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 10 AM at the Church of St. Mary in Alexandria with a visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Friday.

Entombment will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
