Thomas A. Klemenhagen was born on August 15th, 1951 in Canby, Minnesota to Joseph L. and Neoma F. (Minke) Klemenhagen. He died on July 7th, 2024, with family by his side, at his home in Brandon, Minnesota due to natural causes.
Tom grew up in Crystal, Minnesota and graduated from E.J. Cooper Senior High School in New Hope, Minnesota. He met his loving wife, Cindy, in 1973 and they were married in 1976.
Tom's career started on the survey crew, through the years he found opportunities such as civil site inspector, draftsman and designer. His impressive 50 plus years in industry brought him to becoming a civil engineering project manager and designer. Ultimately, he led (owned and operated) his own civil engineering consulting firm, LandTeam Inc, in Alexandria, Minnesota
Tom loved spending time outdoors. He dedicated much of his life to fishing and hunting with his family and friends. He also enjoyed camping, biking, skiing, and boating, as well as observing (viewing, caring for) wildlife on his property and working on projects around his home, but mostly these days he loved spending time at his dream home with his family and being surrounded by his grandchildren.
Tom’s involvement in the community included: coaching youth baseball AABA, coaching youth hockey AAHA. Tom also participated as a member on the Habitat for Humanity Board, Vikingland Builders Association and the Stormwater Utility Community.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Neoma Klemenhagen, his brothers, Bob and David Klemenhagen; his father and mother in-law, Robert and Dorothy Freeman.
Tom is survived by his wife, Cindy (Freeman) Klemenhagen of Brandon, Minnesota; son, Kris Klemenhagen of Alexandria, Minnesota; daughter, Katie Klemenhagen of Brandon, Minnesota; grandchildren Kyla, Finley, Kaleiyah, KeMyia, Mykah Jo, and Tommy; sister, Nancy Klemenhagen; sister/brother-in-law, Sue/ Frank Catanzaro; sister-in-law, Susan Klemenhagen; sister-in-law, Donna Menken; brother-in-law; Richard Freeman and numerous nieces and nephews; and cousins
A Celebration of Tom’s life will be held at the Legacy of the Lake Museum (Boat House) in Alexandria, Minnesota on Thursday, July 25th, from 4-7pm. This being a celebration please refrain from BLACK. Bright colors and fish shirts please in honor of Tom.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Tom's family for a future planned memorial.
