Troy Allen Sorenson was born on March 21, 1984 to Lawrence and Sheila (Holmgren) Sorenson in Fargo, ND. He attended school mostly in Evansville and Baudette and graduated high school from Central Cass High School in Casselton, ND. He then attended NDSU for generals. Troy worked in a wide variety of jobs but a few of his favorites where working for Polaris, Cenex and JD Seamless Siding in Roseau, until the car accident on April 24, 2004. After his hospitalization he went to live with his mom in Evansville. He later attended Alexandria Technical College. Troy moved to Osakis in January of 2007. Troy enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, growing plants, for which he truly had a green thumb, lifting weights, playing with electronics, swimming, being with friends and family and staying in touch with them via internet. Troy died on June 30, 2008 in Osakis, MN at the age of 24 years. Troy is survived by his father, Lawrence Sorenson of Williams, MN; mother, Sheila (Troy) Johnson of Evansville; brothers, John Sorenson of Dalton, MN and Zach Johnson of Evansville; sisters, Ashley Sorenson of Alexandria, Suzanne Sorenson of Brandon; niece, Liberty Johnson; grandparents, Jim and Gwen Sorenson of Williams, MN, Harold Holmgren of Alexandria, and Jerry and Carolyn Johnson of Evansville; many aunts and uncles; and numerous cousins and friends. Troy was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gladys Holmgren, uncle, Doyle Holmgren and best friend, Jason Tillery. A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Christina Lake Lutheran Church in Lund Township, Minnesota with Rev. Ben Johnson officiating. Music was provided by organist, Bonnie Hyer and soloist, Rhonda Rothenberger. Honorary urn bearers were Jennifer Sorenson, Cody Rothenberger, Aaron Rodriguez, Brandon Korgel, Matt Spitsberg, and Jim Scherrer. A celebration of life gathering will also be held at a later date in Williams, MN family and friends are encouraged to check Facebook and search RIP (Rest In Peace) Troy Sorenson for date and time.
