Verlin Otto Dahmes

Verlin Otto Dahmes was born on January 22, 1929, on the family farm near Clements, MN, to Otto and Hilda (Steinhaus) Dahmes. He attended elementary school in Clements and graduated from Springfield High School in 1948. He was a track, basketball, and football athlete. On January 28, 1951, he married Doris Ann Richert in Marshall, MN. They made their home in Richfield, MN, where they raised their four children, Sharilyn, Gary, Doug, and Brian. Verlin took a "temporary" 3 month position at Honeywell and retired 39 years later from Honeywell. Many family vacations were taken in the pickup camper all over western US and Canada. Verlin enjoyed many MN Twins and Vikings games at the Met Stadium with his friend Roger, even during heavy snow. Many years were enjoyed at the lake home on lake Amelia which they built with help from family. After retirement they enjoyed six winters in Arizona. Since 1995 they have called Alexandria their home. Verlin and Doris shared 72 years of marriage. Verlin died on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at the Alexandria Care Campus.

Verlin is survived by his wife Doris of Alexandria; Children, Sharilyn Rien (Kenneth Goldfarb) of St. Louis Park, MN, Gary (Cindy) Dahmes of Cookeville TN, Doug (Sue) Dahmes of Buffalo Lake, MN, Brian (Vitchuda) Dahmes of Oak Creek WI; 8 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren and many neices and nephews; Sisters-in-law, Joan Dahmes and Lola Dahmes.

Verlin is preceded in death by his parents: Otto and Hilda Dahmes; Siblings and Spouses, Oliver Dahmes, Orville & Arlist Dahmes, Virgil & Dorothy Dahmes, Laverne & Viola Dahmes, Phyllis & Ken Posz, Darlene & Vernie Hoffbeck, Vilo Dahmes, Arvin Dahmes; Son-in-Law, Richard Rien; In Laws, Rene & Gord Otto, Marty & Jo Richert.
